Bear witness to the Truth

It was with these words that Jesus explained his reason for being on earth. He was to give us an important truth concerning the One whom he called his God and Father. For this reason, Jesus referred to three main sources which still testify today that all that exists in the Universe is not the fruit of chance. But that of a first Cause which Jesus invited us to call Our Father who is in heaven.

1

The Testimony of the Nature

You have certainly heard of the parable of sheep and goats, or of wheat and weed. These are well-known illustrations used by Jesus. They reveal to us how thoroughly he could observe everything that surrounded him to teach the crowds with both power and simplicity. In the same way, if we observe them carefully, many aspects of nature offer us a powerful testimony attesting that an intelligent act is at the origin of its appearance.

2

The Testimony of the Scriptures

Have you ever read the Bible ? For his part, Jesus showed great respect for this compilation of ancient manuscripts. All the teaching he left us testifies to his unreserved attachment to this book, which he also attributed the inspiration to his God and Father. Speaking of the latter, Jesus said, “Your word is truth.” A simple formula in appearance but which testifies that the Holy Scriptures emanate from a superhuman source and that everything it says is true.

3

The Testimony of the Authorities

All of Jesus’ teaching was based on the inspired writings of his God and Father — authority par excellence. But why he often supported his statements by quoting a respected authority of his time? Because the commonly accepted teachings of his hearers differed from those to whom he referred. Even today, it is sometimes necessary to refer to the testimony of outside authorities to defend the centuries-old truths recorded in the Bible when they are contested.
